We passed many homes like this and noted that they are larger than many of the homes we visit along the riverside areas of Phnom Penh-most of which are built in levels to accommodate the annual flooding. The lake homes shown here rise with the water level and are anchored to keep them more or less in the same area. During the rainy, high-water season, they band closely together for protection from the rain storms and rising waters.
