The World Health Organization has set a goal of eradicating measles from the earth, and Cambodia has signed on in the hope that the lives of 5,000 Cambodian children will be saved annually. This can happen if its 1.5 million children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years are vaccinated this year. To assist, our Church's LDS Charities (LDSC) arm worked with government officials and NGOs to organize a massive public relations campaign to get parents to take their children to vaccination centers this month. As part of that effort, each of our Church units was instructed to distribute flyers to every home within its boundary, and that happened yesterday. It was a delight to visit the three branches to which we are assigned, and watch the leaders organize their volunteers, outfit them with hats and flyers and send them to their assigned neighborhoods. Kudos to Elder and Sister Peterson (who live in the apartment next to ours) for managing this project. They are the country directors for LDSC.
