Elder Joshua Isabell, just prior to his red carpet walk out of the mission home. In mission life, rookies are first taught by their "trainers", and he was my trainer. Prior to our arrival, Elder Isabell was wearing multiple hats as a missionary, records clerk, financial secretary and go-to person for all the back-office work. He stayed with me a couple of months to make sure I wasn't going to mess things up too much, then was sent back to the field as a leader among his peers. Someday I plan to attend a Cambodia missionary reunion, probably assisted by a cane, and I'm going to introduce Elder Isabell as my trainer. I am so grateful to him, as is Sister Snyder. A man with an instinct for kindness, his "yes, ma'am" manners and sparkling humor drew her love right away.
